Kaleiçi is Antalya's walled old town: narrow lanes, restored Ottoman houses, small hotels and restaurants, all leading down to a Roman harbour.

What you will see

  • Hadrian's Gate: a triple-arched marble gate built for the visit of the Roman emperor Hadrian.
  • The Fluted Minaret (Yivli Minare): the symbol of Antalya, built in the Seljuk period.
  • Hıdırlık Tower: an old round tower on the cliff edge with views over the bay.
  • The old harbour: boats, cafés and fish restaurants below the city walls.

Worth adding

The Antalya Museum is one of Turkey's best archaeological museums, with many of the statues from Perge. The Düden waterfall, where the river drops into the sea, is a short drive away.

Tips for golfers

  • Go in the afternoon and stay for dinner. The old town is at its best in the evening.
  • Wear comfortable shoes: the lanes are cobbled and some are steep.
